Bonsoir my friends and family,
I was not expecting to send another email so soon, but
I found this free internet connection in a library in Paris.
Yes, I am in the land of fake kisses and little ugly dogs.
I am having a hard time typing this as the keyboard is
set up to accommodate the French alphabet. I woke up
this morning in the same hostel I stayed in last night. I
swear I gave myself enough time to catch the Eurostar
Chunnel train
thing.
Things were not working to my
advantage. First I locked myself
out of my room. I didn't want to wake
the two others in my room (this was a
different room than the previous night, only three girls and
our door locked). I went downstairs to ask the desk man to give
me the spare but he wasn't there- and he is always there.
Finally he came and gave me the key. I then ran to the
Underground station. In all the time I spent in London I
never had to wait more than 30 seconds for a train. Today
I waited five minutes. Then each stop lasted 2 minutes. I
finally arrived at the Chunnel station four minutes before
the train left. They have this silly policy of not letting anyone
come on board after 20 minutes before departure. The station
attendant nicely allowed me to get on to the next train. Of
course first she had to admonish me for being late. Oh well.
The chunnel ride wasn't all that exciting. I did get some nice
views of the English countryside. In one spot I saw a field
filled with bunnies. I was somehow talked into buying an
English breakfast. Why do I allow myself to eat that grime?
