Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels

Inland / Near Coastal (100 miles off-shore)

REQUIREMENTS

  1. AGE: Eighteen (18)
  2. SEA SERVICE / NEAR COASTAL: One year (360 days) service on vessels including at least (90 days) on ocean or near coastal waters.
  3. SEA SERVICE / INLAND: One year (360 days) service on vessels on any waters.
  4. SAIL ENDORSEMENT: It is included with the license. No testing required.
  5. ASSISTANCE TOWING: You can take this as an endorsement only after you have passed your entire exam.
  6. RECENCY: Three months (90 days) must have been within the 3 years immediately preceding the date of application.

Holders of this license are authorized to operate an uninspected vessel of less than 100 gross tons carrying six or less passengers for hire. The vessel may be propelled by machinery or auxiliary sail. NOTE: It is unlawful to carry passengers for hire on vessels over 5 net tons, unless the vessel is a documented vessel of the United States authorized to engage in commercial trade. Carrying passengers for hire on vessels over 5 net tons documented for pleasure service or registered with state numbers is illegal.
