Mate of Inland / N.C. Waters

Up To 200 Gross Tons

REQUIREMENTS

  1. AGE: Eighteen (18)
  2. SEA SERVICE / NEAR COASTAL: One year (360 days) service on vessels on ocean or near coastal waters. Service on Inland waters may be substituted for a maximum of 180 days of this time.
  3. SEA SERVICE / INLAND: Six months (180 days) service on vessels on inland, ocean, or near coastal waters.
  4. SAIL ENDORSEMENT: NEAR COASTAL - Six months (180 days), INLAND - Three months (90 days) on sail or auxiliary sail vessels.
  5. ASSISTANCE TOWING: You can take this as an endorsement only after you have passed your entire exam.
  6. RECENCY: Three months (90 days) must have been within the 3 years immediately preceding the date of application.
