REQUIREMENTS
- AGE: Eighteen (18)
- SEA SERVICE / NEAR COASTAL: One year (360 days) service
on vessels on ocean or near coastal waters. Service on Inland waters may be substituted for a maximum of 180 days of this time.
- SEA SERVICE / INLAND: Six months (180 days) service on
vessels on inland, ocean, or near coastal waters.
- SAIL ENDORSEMENT: NEAR COASTAL - Six months (180 days), INLAND - Three months (90 days) on sail or auxiliary sail vessels.
- ASSISTANCE TOWING: You can take this as an endorsement
only after you have passed your entire exam.
- RECENCY: Three months (90 days) must have been within
the 3 years immediately preceding the date of application.
