U.S. Government Sites
The U.S.C.G. Office Of Marine Safety has a bunch of valuable information for the professional mariner, including the entire Coast Guard question bank for all "Deck Licenses" and "Engineering Licenses" - the actual questions you'll face in the exam!
All 50 titles of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) are available in a searchable database. If you've ever had to look something up in a CFR, you will most certainly know the value of this.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Homepage has a very wide scope of information on everything they have a hand in from meddleing with your cable TV bill to what license or permit is required to perform duties on vessels. It is an immense site that is confusing to get around in. The page that I was interested in their site was Commercial Radio Operator Licenses. As it contains information on the 'Marine Radio Operator Permit'. The site also has the entire databank of questions for the various 'elements' of the exams.
A VHF Frequencies List is available from the FCC. At the FCC site you can also read about the new regs on Digital Selective Calling (DSC) etc...
Yacht Training Schools The American Yacht Institute does Professional Training for Interior and Exterior Crew.
