Cay B. McNabb, 66, of Glendale, Ore., died Thursday, May 22, 2003.
Mr. Mcnabb was born on August 24, 1936, to Elenas Houston and the late Acey McNabb.
He was a logger, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Jo McNabb; three sons, David McNabb of Marlin, Ore., Micheal McNabb of Dallas, Texas, and Benjamin McNabb of Center Point, Ore.; one daughter, Betsy Byland of Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Elenas Houston; three brothers, Acey McNabb of Amity, Joe McNabb of Arkadelphia, and Jimmy McNabb of Gurdon; five sisters, Anna Rutherford of Okolona, Margie Prince of Prescott, Barbara Hurbard of Okolona, Alice Merchant of Cleveland, Texas, and Emma Hill of Prescott.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 22.
Billy Tom Rutherford, 67, of Gurdon, died Monday, June 2, 2003.
Billy Tom was an assistant manager for Big Star Grocery and was a Gurdon Volunteer Firefighter with 25 years of service, member of Center Grove Methodist Church. His hobbies included wood-working, talking about his children and grandchildren and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Joyce Tally Rutherford of Gurdon; three sons, Joe Rutherford, Jerry Rutherford and wife, Lori, Bryan Rutherford and wife, Michelle, all of Gurdon; two daughter, Missy Dickens and husband Jack, of Gurdon, and Pam Chappelle and husband Lew, of Mobile, Ala.; brother Jim Rutherford of Blue Mound, Kan.; two grandchildren, Nicki Leamons and husband, Jeremy, and J.T. Dickens, all of Gurdon; and one great-grandchild, Riley Leamons of Gurdon.
Services were held Wednesday, June 4, at Center Grove Methodist Church with Bro. James Guthrie and Bro. Rick Pyron, officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery with services entrusted to Horne Funeral Home, Gurdon.
Tommy Joe ‘T.J.' Eckert
Tommy Joe ‘T.J.' Eckert, 23 of Gurdon, died Sunday, April 21, 2002.
Eckert was a salesperson and attended Sycamore Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Tristan Eckert of Gurdon; one daughter, Ashley Taber of Waldron; mother, Shelly Morgan; two brothers, Jesse Eckert of Gurdon and Billy Eckert of Columbia, S.C.; and grandparents, Maggie Eckert of Gurdon, Troy Morgan of Knights Landing, Calif., and Shirley and Ray Welch of South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Eckert, a sister, Cindy Eckert, and a grandfather, Bill Eckert.
Graveside services were held Thursday, April 25, at Rose Hill Cemetery with Bro. Danny Eckert officiating. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Ruth P. West
Ruth P. West, 78, of Booneville died Saturday, July 1, 2000.
Mrs. West was the widow of Willie Willard West. She was a Methodist. a son, Robert, and a grandson, James West Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, James West of Gurdon; two daughters, Willie Jewell Ezell of Booneville and Maggie Reed of Sparkman; three brothers, Johnny Rutherford of Okolona, Charles Marion Rutherford of Okolona and T.D. Rutherford of Gurdon; three sisters, Maggie Eckert of Gurdon, Anna Sue Wells of Gurdon and Betty Kieper of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, July 5, in Horne Funeral Chapel in gurdon with Rev. Billy Reed officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Gurdon by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Thomas Dewey Rutherford
Thomas Dewey Rutherford, 80, of Gurdon died Monday, July 24, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Arkadelphia.
He was a deputy for the Benton Police Department and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two brothers, Johnie Rutherford and Charles Rutherford, both of Okolona; and three sisters, Maggie Eckert and Annie Sue Wells, both of Gurdon and Betty Jo Kifer of Jacksonville.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 26 at Center Ridge Cemetery with Maurice Burroughs officiating. Arrangements were by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon
Mattie L. Tally
Mattie L. Tally, 78, of Gurdon died Friday, September 22, 2000.
Mrs. Tally was a homemaker. She was the widow of James Homer Tally and a member of First Baptist Church of Gurdon.
Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Rutherford of Gurdon, Betty Jones of El Dorado, Wanda Fuller of Village and Susan Seamans of El Dorado; two brothers, Billy Hastings of Gurdon and Winfred ‘Bill' Hastings of Houston, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, September 25, in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon with arrangements by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Thomas Edward Eckert
Thomas 'Tommy' Edward Eckert, 51, of Gurdon died Wednesday, August 25, 1999.
Mr. Eckert was a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad, a U.S. Army veteran where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Eckert of Gurdon; three sons, William 'Billy' F. Eckert of Hopkin, S.C., and Tommy Joe Eckert and Jesse Ray Eckert, both of Gurdon; two brothers, Joe Eckert of Gurdon and Freddie Eckert of Chidester; one sister, Nancy Coplen of Houston, Texas; his mother, Maggie Eckert of Gurdon; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Ellen, and his father, Bill Eckert.
Graveside services were Saturday, August 28, in Rose Hill Cemetery under the arrangements of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Johnie Rutherford Jr.
Johnie Rutherford Jr., 50, of Gurdon died Sunday, June 28, 1998.
Mr. Rutherford was a member of Center Grove Methodist Church. He was a Vietnam veteran and a construction worker.
Survivors include two sons, John Rutherford of Arkadelphia and Abraham Rutherford of Gurdon; one daughter, Betsey Rutherford of Gurdon; four sisters, Lida Loe, Linda Duckett and Sara Taylor, all of Prescott and Mary Manzella of Ashdown; his parents, Johnnie and Anna Rutherford of Okolona; his grandmother, Mrs. A.V. Houston of Okolona; and four grandchildren, Naulaunie, Michael, Tamara and Alexis.
Services were Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in Center Grove Methodist Church with interment in Center Ridge Cemetery by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Octavia Rutherford of Malvern died Wednesday, December 21, 1994. She was 74, a Baptist, and a homemaker.
Survivors are her husband, Tom "T.D." Rutherford; a son, Charles Finley Jr. of Benton; a brother, Burt Ward of Booneville; two sisters, Evia Moseley of Carlisle and May Mayfield of North Little Rock, AR; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 24, 1994, at Pipkin Cemetery. Reverend Golden officiated and was assisted by Sister Montais Box.
