The Poet
Mari D. Gonzalez was born in Mexico and moved
to the Bay Area right after finishing college.
She started writing poetry at age 14 and her
writings have appeared on local newspapers.
She is also a dance performer of a unique fusion
style that mixes her previous training on Mexican
Folkloric, Hawaiian, Persian and Egyptian.
She combines poetry reading with her dance.
Mari received a B.A. on Business Communications from
Holy Names University in California. She has worked
for over twelve years with immigrant communities as a
public health educator and currently
pursuing a postgraduate degree on Intercultural Relations.
She believes that art - as an intuitive form of expression -
is essential for us to connect with others and to bridge
diverse communities. |
