Education
I received my J.D. in 1999 from the University of Illinois College of Law, where I ranked 3rd in
a class of 174, and was a member of the Law Review. I graduated Order of the Coif and Summa Cum Laude. While in
Law School I worked as Business Manager of the Law Review and participated in the Frederick Green Moot Court Competition.
I authored an academic article entitled Determining the Scope of the Fifth Amendment Privilege Against Self-Incrimination: Should Pre-arrest
Silence be Admissible as Substantive Evidence of Guilt?, which was published in the University of Illinois Law Review. I was given an award
for being the top graded student in my class (CALI Award) in the following classes: Legal Research and Writing, Law
and Cyberspace, Land Use Planning, Urban Government, International Law, Sexual Orientation and the Law, Trademark, and Professional
Responsibility.
Prior to Law School, I studied Political Science (my major) at the University of Illinois, along
with Spanish (my minor), French, accounting and business. I graduated Bronze Tablet (awarded to top 1% of class).
I live in Stillman Valley, with my husband Matt, and my dog Gracie.

Experience
During law school, I worked for Sidley & Austin (now Sidley, Austin, Brown & Wood) in Chicago.
I gained experience in corporate litigation, intellectual property, and other areas of law. While at Sidley I worked
for large corporate clients such as Taco Bell, and had a very small part working in conjuction with the ACLU
on the civil rights case of The City of Chicago v. Morales, which was eventually heard before the U.S. Supreme
Court.
I also worked during Law School for the Champaign firm of Harrington, Porter, Ermentrout and Tock,
where I worked in a wide variety of areas of law, from tax litigation to contract law.
I now have my own general practice, with a focus on Real Estate, Estate Planning/Probate, Personal
Injury, Corporate Law, and limited areas of Family Law. I am
also active in the Illinois State Bar Association, where I serve on the Board of Editors for the Illinois Bar Journal.
