1.  I wanted to share my experience with using a product called Avian Trio.  This is an all natural product composed of bee pollen, propolis and royal jelly.  If you want to read up on it go to www.prettyparrot.com and click on the birds and find the page on nutrition.  There is a lot of information there.  I have used this during my last breeding season and had the best season I have ever had.  The only thing I used different was the Avian Trio.  It can be added to wet foods or even dry seed as it is a bit sticky it adheres to the dry seed and the bird gets it, it does not drift down through the seed to get lost.  I use this any time the birds get their wet foods and the tiels (they don't get wet foods) get theirs' on their seed.  You can order from Jane at Pretty Parrot (800-767-4208) or from Janis Clark (866-412-5275).  I really do like to share when I find a product that really does work....and you will be delighted with this one...If you do decide to try this product, please tell Janis or Jane that I referred you.

2.  Also another product that is wonderful for when parents have chicks to feed is Petamine Nestling Food.  I usually on the bigger birds, add it to their seed mix, just sprinkle about a teaspoon right over their seed/wet foods.  With the tiels I give them a small bowl in the morning and then freshen it in the evening.  In the morning the parents are actually pacing the cages until they get their bowl of Petamine.  You can get this from Feeding Tech at 800-688-0850.

3        Another thing  that I have found to work very well for birds with plucking problems is the herb, Milk Thistle with Dandelion Root.  This herb complex  has a few other things in it, like licorice, fennel, etc.
I advise using it in the capsule form.  Break open the capsules, put the powder in a 'salt" shaker, and shake this over the bird's wet foods at least once a day.  I have gotten a lot of feedback from numerous people telling me that this complex has really helped with their birds' plucking/mutilation problem.  This herb is also good for after antibiotic use, as it is good for the liver.

4.  Another wonderful product is Quikon Med.  You know when you have babies that just don't seem to be doing well, but are not actually sick, well just a pinch of the QM in the handfeeding formula once a day will usually perk those guys right up.  It is effective against bacterials and fungals.  Janis Clark also sell this at a very reasonable price....Try the small size and see if you don't see a difference in those "just not so right" babies.....

This is all for now.....I wish you all happy and healthy babies and adults.....
