Most of my geological work so far has been in the Death Valley region of California, particularly in the Panamint Mountains. I did a Ph.D. dissertation in the southwestern Panamints from 1992 to 1995. As of early 2002, I've given 5 GSA talks and have published one paper.

Ph.D. Dissertation:

Tectonic Evolution of a portion of the southwestern Panamint Mountains, Death Valley region, California, 199pp., University of Southern California, 1995.

Papers:

Cichanski, M. A., 2000, Low-angle, range-flank faulting in the Panamint, Inyo, and Slate ranges, California: Implications for recent tectonics of the Death Valley region, Geological Society of America Bulletin, v. 112, no. 6, p. 871-883.

Abstracts:

I'll have to look up the exact references and update them, but here's a quick list of the GSA talks that I've given:

1999 Cordilleran (Berkeley): "Turtleback"-like structure in Saline Valley, California (and other nearby basins): Implications for topography and recent tectonics of the Death Valley region

1998 Cordilleran (Long Beach): Stuctural and geomorphic evidence for anticlinal development in an extensional environment: The southwestern Panamint Mountains, California

1994 National Meeting (Seattle) (with Andy Crossland): Right-lateral shear zones of Mesozoic age near the eastern margin of the Sierran batholith: Evidence from the Panamint Mountains, California

1994 Cordilleran (San Bernardino): The South Park Canyon 'fault', Panamint Mountains, California: Re-evaluating a presumed thrust fault.

1993 Cordilleran/Rocky Mtn (Reno): 'Turtleback" structure in the southwestern Panamint Mountains, Death Valley region, California
