Death Valley / Panamints

I first visited the southwest on a geology club trip to Death Valley in 1989. Like many others, I was hooked. The eastern Sierra / Death Valley region has an appeal that's difficult to explain - you have to go and experience it for yourself. I attended graduate school at USC from 1991-1995, and I came to know the eastern Sierra / Death Valley / eastern Mojave region much better than I knew L.A.. Most of these pictures are from my dissertation field area in the southwestern Panamint Mountains.
