James Byron Dean

It was a Sunday. On this day February 8th 1931, Winton and Mildred Dean gave birth to a baby boy.  James Byron Dean was  brought into this world.  Jimmy was born in Marion Indiana in the Seven Gables apartment house at 320 East 4th Street weighing  8lbs 10oz. The Dean's lived in both Marion and Fairmount Indiana for several years.  In 1935 when he was five years old his father's job as a dental technician relocated his family to Los Angeles.   After spending four years in California Mildred became very ill.  In April 1940 at the young age of nine,  Jimmy lost his mother to cancer.  Unable to financially care for  his young son, Winton Dean felt it was best that he send James to his sister's farm in Fairmount Indiana.  James boarded a train along with his grandmother Emma Dean on his journey to a new life.  Jimmy's Aunt and Uncle Marcus & Hortense Winslow provided what would be Jimmy's home for the next eight years.  Fairmount would have no idea just who this shy young man would become.. and what he would mean to our universe.
