- Boss BF-2B Bass Flanger
If you need a bass flanger, the analog BF-2B sounds much better to my ears than the digital BF-3. To reduce "muddiness", the BF-2B only flanges the higher frequencies, letting the lower fundamentals pass through uneffected.

- Boss CE-2B Bass Chorus
This Boss bass chorus pedal only choruses the higher frequencies and harmonics, leaving the lower bass frequencies intact for less 'mud'. Somewhat unusual among my Taiwan-made Boss pedals, this CE-2B has an orange label sticker on the bottom and is powered by an ACA-series AC adapter.

- Boss GE-7B Graphic Equalizer
The current-production GEB-7 has a more usable frequency range for the bass, but this one was pretty cheap (~$25).

- Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter/Enhancer
Bought used off eBay, mostly to smooth out the bass for 4-track recording. Since assembling a bass amp, I started to use it more often (but then used it less after buying a BBE DI-1000 box, with built in Sonic Maximizer... yes!). This pedal replaced a DOD FX82 Bass Compression pedal (which had replaced a Boss CS-3 compressor that was otherwise never used). (Now I have only Boss pedals! Bwah ha ha ha!!)

- Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive
Bought used (of course), the ODB-3 strikes me as more of a distortion pedal (from subtle to just filthy) than a true 'overdrive' unit, I still haven't been able to completely dial in the Ampeg SVT sounds that I covet (c.f. Kim Gordon's bass tone for much of Dirty by Sonic Youth). In addition, it seems like there's just too much tinny high end with this pedal; maybe I should run it before instead of after my PQ-3B eq pedal....

- Boss PQ-3B Bass Parametric Equalizer
Bought used off of eBay, this pedal is great for adding up to 18 db of punch or growl to specific frequencies while attenuating others. In some ways, parametric EQs are more limiting than graphic equalizers, but parametric EQs give a more subtle yet more expressive tone-shaping capability, and essentially give any bass active electronics.
