Here are pictures of the Eden House. The photos do not do justice to the lush surroundings. For instance,
there are at least three small waterfalls, six hammocks and four or five hammock swings on the property. The pool area
is small but the pool is kept very clean.

This place was built in 1924 and originally known as the Gibson Hotel. It was in terrible condition when Mike Eden
bought it for a 'song' in 1975. It is estimated he paid less than $5,000 for it. Rumor has it a large Chain recently
offered him close to $2 million, but he declined to sell. I don't know if any of that is true, but it makes for
an interesting story. What is true is Goldie Hawn filmed her movie "Criss Cross" at Eden House in 1990.

Lobby

|
Not fancy - no computer check-in, just a name card in a slot.
Turn right at the lobby reception desk and you'll be on the front porch - yes, they have rocking chairs on the porch.
Turn right at the sidewalk and on the corner is Cafe Med. It's a superb restaurant. The photos on the Eden
House web site don't begin to show what a nice restaurant this is. While it's not inexpensive, I can
say it was definitely the best meal we had in Key West. We each had a glass of wine with our meal but no dessert,
the tab was $86 before tip (that's not a complaint).

Backing out of the lobby photo, turn to your left and this walkway takes you to the pool. The stones under
that stairwell contain a waterfall. There are four somewhat larger apartments in the building on the left (Bldg
500). I am told by guests they are very nice rooms but, if you're a light sleeper, to stay away from the room next
to the ice & soda machines (I think it's rm. #500). Smaller rooms are on the right (Bldgs 100 & 200)

Speaking of the pool - here it is

That's a waterfall in the upper left corner of the pool
The main web cam view is prtially obstructed by tree branches but the above photo is the view if it wasn't
obstucted. As you can see, this day, we beat the crowd. Pool temperature is usually around 90 degrees in the summer
but since the ambient temp., when we were there, was more than 100 degrees, the pool water temp. was actually
quite refreshing.
