Liquefy

That's what Adobe Photoshop calls this effect. This photograph of our impatiens was particularly well suited for it. I like the look of peppermint candies left out in the sun to melt. I really haven't been able to work much with Photoshop, for various reasons that I will not go into, but I have been watching Michael and learning, somewhat, along with him. It's a huge program and should keep us entertained for some time. I found some other effects that will work nicely with some of my other photos. I hope to be able to use them. I'm glad that there isn't a bottom that you can push to make the picture perfect. My idea of "perfect" is usually different than other people's.

Home

A very important concept. Everyone needs their own and this is ours. Yes, the legendary 1002. The lines that appear like scratches are actually the utility wires. I could have taken them out, but I feel no need to pretend to be Amish.I would not survive for very long with electricity. I was once asked what I thought the most important innovation of the past 100 years. I think the wide spread use of indoor plumbing is highly underrated. As a small child I spend time on my great-grandfather's farm in Elmer, NJ. (His name was Tom Blades.) All of the plumbing was outside and the upstairs had no electricity. This experience was actually rather pleasant. I'm certain that I would have enjoyed it less if I had been older and had to fetch water, do laundry on a scrub board by the pump, lime the outhouse, and empty Murphy pots, but he did have a horse, a barn and a wondrous amount of land that included a woods.

Color

If I have to have a favorite color, it's green, any shade. I like the way colors react together more than the individual hues. The image at the left is actually the full moon of February 8, 2001 that I took with the digital camera. This beautiful image was there behind what looked like a total mistake. I just changed the colors from blues and blacks to greens. The greens made the image look more alive, almost as if it were growing. This is a new way to look at clouds and haze.

More/Less

This is an actual photo of the full moon taken with my film camera. I've been rather busy with "my latest project" and don't want to put things on my part of the website just to fill space, hear myself type, whatever you want to call it. Be sure and check out our Backyard Bird Life List and Michael's wonderful photographs - even a couple of mine are on there now. The original section of my website is still available as Cathi's Back Page 1 and, more recently, Cathi's Back Page 3. I've also started to tell the story of our home's history.  The first two parts are called as Ten-Oh Two (Before the Early Years) and Ten-Oh Two (Day One).  There is a new Cathi's Corner page as well as a continuation of the our story titled "Here Comes the Bride" in the latest update.
