the enigmatic Swan of Avon provides us with another piece of the puzzle
The recent release of a bevy of movies based on his plays has not diminished William Shakespeare's passionate dedication to the stage. On the contrary, the playwright feels that the commercial success of such films as Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III and Othello may bring more people to the theater. He may be right; no other writer can claim such sustained box office draw as Shakespeare, a fact that has earned him the title of "The Greatest Writer in the English Language." Rivals, such as John Milton, George Bernard Shaw and John Grisham have all ungrudgingly paid homage to him, and the hottest stars in Hollywood and abroad are vying for roles in his screenplays.
