Mo knows Po’etry

The Waiting

   DON’T GO UP THE HILL

Rumors and speculation rampant

   The latest theories,

        the what ifs.

Facing our worst fears

More ‘don’t knows’

Than ‘knowns’

Might be me,

 – might be you

We’ll both face changes,

  But first the Waiting.

The directions were clear

DON’T GO UP THE HILL

Turn left on the dirt road

DON’T GO UP THE HILL

I followed the signs and

DIDN’T GO UP THE HILL

I went where I was told and

DIDN’T GO UP THE HILL

I never learned why

They told me

DON’T GO UP THE HILL

But tomorrow I will.

            Greeting

Stretching to reach your face

With mine till my

Calves ache

And my embrace would

Release after one more kiss.

Truths revealed at night

subconscious knows all

only speaks in the dark

dropping sound bites

oozing out clues on my pillow.

DISPOSABLE PEOPLE

She goes through men like tissues.

She always has one handy,

         they never last long

         before she discards them.

Pulling yet another

         magically from her purse.

Why not invest in a sturdier,

long lasting handkerchief type?

One that can go through the worst

and come back fresh for more abuse.

Bringing out the Muse

Lying on the carpet

In the darkened room

With blues and heartache

Crying through the headphones.

After a drink or two

I coax the words

to reach the page

before my tears.

Mini Van Land

I’m a two door sports car, living in Mini Van Land

I’ve got no husband; I’ve got no kids.

I’m playing single in a mixed doubles world

I work with suits, and pass for the same.

I’ve got the picket fence, and a big mortgage bill

Whose expectations am I trying to fill?

FACADE

Image is important

more than matter

not what’s true

what appears can fool

not only others, but you.

Then the lines of reality

bleed into wishes.
