My lighthouse, always observant
a comfort as I venture out
in my small boat.
Without interference
she looks on waiting
if I need her assistance.
As a novice I needed direction
I sought instruction, guidance.
She'd remain stable and firm
on the cliff, while I struggled
on the rocks below.
Early,
between small trips,
her beam in my eyes
I'd navigate back.
Docking on shore often,
resting at her base, weak
from the exertion.
Shining bright, urging me to sail
so I gain experience
so I gain strength.
Standing strong, "Test the waters,
ride the waves" She implies,
"you always have
safe harbor here."
At times, I thought her light
burned out. Those times
I traveled beyond her insight.
Relying on my own steering
I became both Captain,
and First Mate.
