Magistra's Guide to Latin for Blog Readers
Being a somewhat overobsessed Latinist/teacher/knitter, I took the liberty of using a lot of Latin phrases in labeling sections of the blog. Here are some of the phrases you'll see here:
- Acta Novissima: Recent posts
- Ecce Socii: Friends' posts
- Tabularium: Archive
- De Me: About me
- Regredere: Go back (previous page)
- Progredere: Go forward (next page)
- Acta Sententiaeque: Deeds and Opinions (a nice generic title for one's blog, isn't it? You're only seeing my knitting blog here, but you can click "Acta Novissima" to see my blog posts in all topics. Other than knitting, it's mostly [what a surprise!] about teaching...)
- Ubi Sum? Where am I? Used for Livejournal's "Current Location" feature.
- Qualem habitum animi nunc patior? More or less, "How do I feel?" Used for Livejournal's "Current Mood" feature.
- Qualem musicam nunc audio? What music am I listening to? Used for Livejournal's "Current Music" feature.
- Ligamines: Links
- Cave Magistram: Beware of the teacher!
- Soli Deo Gloria: Glory to God alone!
- In Pagina: On this page
- Calendarium: I think you can figure that one out.
- Appendiculae: Tags. If you see the name of a knitting project here, you can click it to read all my posts about that project.
- aut: "or"
