First there was Caylee Anthony, then Haleigh Cummings, and now Sandra Cantu.
Caylee...just a baby... a beautiful, innocent two year old whose life was taken because her mother would rather party.
(my opinion of course). It boggles the mind. It is incomprehensible to me that a mother could not love and adore her child;
that a mother could murder her baby. It will never compute.
Nor does it compute that a child, Haleigh Cummings, could simple vanish from her house in the dead of night..especially
when the entrance doors were locked. When my children were young, I slept with one ear open. Always. I knew when they were
sick before they knew it. Mother's intuition? To this day I sleep with an ear open, even though my children are grown and
on their own. I guess my ear is open for my husband now, because he is just as precious as my children. Haleigh's case doesn't
"add up."
And Sandra. My God... a woman Sunday school teacher as much as confesses to raping and murdering her. And she is the mother
of a five year old.
It is all very frightening and there really are no words to describe it.
People describe the perfect life as "Beaver Cleaver" in the fifties. Mom in her shirtwaist dress standing at
the kitchen sink. White gloves and church on Sunday. The only medicine in the bathroom cabinet was aspirin. People didn't
drink cough medicine to get high, they sipped a teaspoon to get rid of their cough. People weren't assaulted on TV every night
about the latest murder down the street, or robbery at your favorite store three minutes after you left.
If you skinned your knee, Mom took care of it. You didn't wait 10 hours in the ER. If you weren't home exactly at five
p.m.... you got in trouble, but it wasn't because your parents were worried about a kidnapping, rape or murder. Most children
ate dinner a five pm back then.
