A friend recently sent me some facts about the new HC bill. What I read really frightened me and so I downloaded the bill and started reading. It's nightmare time. What is even more frightening than the bill is my fear of speaking out about it. Years ago I wouldn't have given speaking out a second thought. Now, I had to mull over the decision and decided to go for it.

The fact that Obama is insisting the bill pass scares me. Why? Because I know it will probably pass despite the growing outcry against it. Do our voices count? I don't think they do. Recently I wrote my governor about something that greatly disturbed me. The reply was that it was for the "greater good of all." What does that sound like to you? Who is he to decide my "greater good"?

But I digress.

So, what about those who cannot afford any kind of health insurance, even at a lower rate--which apparently won't be low enough for many people. They are going to be penalized 2.5%..which must be paid. And what if they can't afford the 2.5%? To me it's the same as some states throwing deadbeat dads into jail for not paying child support. How do the states expect them to pay child support if they are in jail?

Wouldn't everyone gladly get health insurance if they could afford it? Absolutely.

I'd like to see the country go to the polls and vote for this new Bill. Let the PEOPLE decide if it goes through --not the lobbyist or government officials who have an agenda. I am sure those citizens who were for such health care did not consider being penalized for not being able to opt in.

The debt this country has established in the past six months is staggering. Did we, the people, ask for it--give our blessing? Far from it, yet we are paying for it. Our children and grandchildren are paying for it...and generations to come. Something is terrible wrong.

Most of us like to feel in control. We no longer seem to have control of our own lives and personal decisions, and that's scary to me.

Does a bill have to be pushed through just because the president insists? Hmmmm. Why are representatives responding as if intimidated? Maybe for the same reason I hesitated to write about it. Unfortunately, I don't see our voices making change now or in the foreseeable future.
