I admit that I am keeping tabs on the progression of the Swine flu. I can't remember ever having even the seasonal "flu". (Knock on wood), and I've never had a flu shot. What bothers me, is the hysterical media coverage which, after about a week, is dying down. The reason it's slacking off? So far this flu can't be remotely compared to the seasonal flu in scope. Pandemic? Why use that word when it has never once been used to describe the seasonal flu, which hits every country and causes untold deaths around the globe every year.

Poor Vice President Biden. He only spoke his truth when he said to stay away from confined places. Great advice. But, oh no...the powers that be can't have that "truth". So, the poor man obviously was "forced" to ride the train from D.C. to Delaware to make up for his blunder :-)

Schools are closing, a plane lands short of its destination to unload a sick passenger, the W.H.O ups the status to almost pandemic, but we shouldn't worry about taking the subway, train or plane? Which is it people? Are we or aren't we in the throes of a health crisis?

I remember getting the Swine flu shot back in 1976. The world was convinced everyone was going to die... well, you know what I mean. Well, some people who got inoculated got very sick, and some did die (from the inoculation). And Swine flu never did rear its ugly head across the nation or world. Another example of the cure being worse than the disease.

I, for one, am going to be careful...although my husband and I always wash our hands after going out -- even to the supermarket. And, of course, I've always been a little wary when it comes to germs. I don't drink or eat after anyone. If I get take out on the road and I can't wash my hands first, I never pop an entire fry into my mouth. Instead I eat it all -- except the part my fingers touched. I simply drop the little nub of a fry into the take out bag. I thought I was the only one to do that until I learned that my husband's uncle does the same thing. I'm not crazy after all.

So, I say hooray for Joe Biden for telling it like it is. He was telling us to use common sense.
