Red Yucca (Hesperaloe parviflora) Red Yucca (Hesperaloe parviflora)

This rugged perennial from the lily family shows remarkable heat and cold tolerance, is indifferent to soil type and virtually disease-free. Uncommon in the wild, it is a mainstay in Texas landscapes with its striking rosette of dark green, yucca-like leaves and showy flowers. A larger, less common variety, Hesperaloe funifera, grows to 6' with flower spikes of 12-15' in height.

Leaves are deer-resistant but budded flower stalks can be at risk.
