| Rock Rose (Pavonia lasiopetala)
Among the sister species of Hibiscus, this handsome native shrub is a garden delight. It is covered in bright pink 1-1/2" flowers from late Spring till the first frost. Butterflies flock to the dependable blossoms which open daily, even in the heat of a Texas Summer. The plant is extremely drought tolerant and naturalizes readily in any soil. Trim the plant back by 1/3 in late Winter to to keep it more compact and promote flowering the following Spring. Although the plant is deer-resistant, Rock Rose is susceptible to powdery mildew when humidity is high for a continuous period of time.
