| Bush Germander (Teucrium fruticans)
This evergreen shrub from the western Mediterranean is one of the few non-native species we can recommend for Central Texas landscapes. Bush Germander is heat and drought tolerant and is absolutely covered in lavender blue flowers for up to two months. The plant is resistant to insects and disease and has silvery gray-green foilage that provides the perfect backdrop for showy perennials. It only requires light pruning to keep it looking good and its fullness makes it ideal for screening central air conditioner compressors and neighbor's yards. Bush Germander is deer-resistant.
