Trailing Silver Sage (Salvia chianophylla) This handsome scrambling groundcover is native to the Saltillo, Mexico area. It grows rapidly and roots wherever it touches soil. Small lavender blue flowers abound during the warm months. The plant takes a light freeze well and only dies back to the ground in the mid-20s. Trailing Silver Sage is very xeric; it's excellent for "dry" waterfalls and other slopes or ledges. The plant is deer-resistant.
