Lindheimer/Big Muhly (Muhlenbergia lindheimeri) Found almost exclusively on the Edward's Plateau, this attractive Muhly was the first to gain commercial acceptance. It is a large bunchgrass -- the leaves are easily 3' in length. They are a narrow (1/4" wide) and emerge in Spring with a blue green color that matures to a medium green. The inflorescence is a spike up to 4-5' and occasionally higher. Lindheimer Muhly is good for adding height and texture to native landscapes, as a specimen plant or providing an effective screen for hiding utility boxes or fences. Lindheimer Muhly is deer resistant. |
