Mark and Sheri have been skiing since college. Their first trip was 3 buses
of UNC students to Killington, Vermont during 1978 Christmas
break. The journey began with a 35-gallon trash can of “PJ”
in the aisle that was empty before they hit Virginia. Twelve
short hours later, they arrived at the Bardwell, a giant bunkhouse
in Rutland. It was pouring rain. They were hooked!
Now, they fly to the resort and stay within walking distance
to the lifts. They take a “major” trip out west every
year and try to supplement that with some long weekends to nearby
resorts.
Sheri’s mom comes
to house-sit and enjoy lots of quality time with Maddie. Although
she still has a ways to go, Madeleine thinks her training is coming
along very well! After all, it took only three trips for her to learn that
Maddie sleeps in the bed with her Grandma.
Mark and Sheri’s first western trip was to Breckenridge in 1986 and they branched out from there. They have a casual list of destinations that they are working on, but they keep returning to Crested Butte and Telluride.

Telluride, Colorado. Great skiing, magnificent scenery. My personal second favorite.
Crested Butte, Colorado. Will definitely kick your arse if you're not careful! Very close third favorite.

Taos, New Mexico. Food to make you slap your Grandma.
Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge,
Copper Mountain and Keystone;
Summit County, Colorado.
Vail, Colorado.
Steamboat, Colorado.
Killington, Vermont.
Mount Snow, Vermont.
Wintergreen, Virginia. Very nice for Southeastern skiing!
