What Was Wrong With Ellen's Page

  • Family tartan as background makes the page very hard to read
  • Button for link to photograph conveys far less information than a thumbnail would (and when you click on it, the black and white photo contrasts unfavorably with the color page that you just came from)
  • Standard font usage for book citations would be easier to read
  • Grouping titles by in-print and out-of-print may not be the best approach
  • "Back to main index" is technical jargon; "Back to the McKenzie home page" is more meaningful
  • "Made With A Mac" distracts from the main purpose of the page (animated graphics almost always detract more than they add)
  • Now take a look at the corrected page.
