called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m.
Artwork
will be accepted there on Wednesday, March 25, 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, March
26, 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Pick Up Date is Saturday, April 25,
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. These dates are firm. There is no storage
service available.
Responsibilities
for Organizing the Art Show
Recruit
Donations and Purchase Awards--All members! Contact individuals and
professionals and businesses you patronize. Turn in names and amounts to Jan
Atkins j3dogs@earthlink.net) as soon as possible (Monday, March 9 at the
latest). Recruit
Juror--Andrea Morrison (done) , Invitations to
the Reception to Juror (she is not able to attend), sponsors, purchase award
donors, Gallery Group Staff and Board.
Receiving:
Wednesday, March 25, 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, March 26, 10 a.m. to 12 noon--Jan
Atkins, Ed Camin and Cassie Snow.
Confirm
that the completed "Label for Artwork" is on the back of each piece
of artwork. Store inventory cards in a file box in alphabetical order by
artists' last names. Accept fee. Write receipt. Display artwork in its proper
category for accessibility for the Juror. The categories are Oil/Acrylic, Watermedia,
Drawing and Mixed Media (two dimensional only).

Duties for Preparing the Exhibit: Display the artwork: Gallery
Group Staff and MAAL volunteers, if needed.
Refreshments--All
members bring nice snacks. Table cloths, center pieces, cups, napkins,
plates, forks--Judy Gammons. Punch--Celeste Tsalkis, Host the table: Serve
punch, refill refreshments, keep neat--Judy Gammons and ? Master of
Ceremonies-? Assistant to the Master of Ceremonies-?
There was thoughtful discussion about
expanding the categories to include Photography in this year's show.
There is a photography contest occuring at the time of our show
sponsored by the Public Libraries in this region. Debi Westbrook moved
and Celeste Tsaklis seconded that the Art League sponsor a photography
contest this summer. Debi
Westbrook shared information about exhibits taking place soon at the
Sawtooth, Associated Artists, Gateway Gallery, Davidson County Community
College and a Show and Sale on March 21, 12 noon to 5 p.m. at Allison Oaks
Winery in Yadkinville for the benefit of the Yadkin County Arts
Council. Contact Debi at 336-469-9139 for further information. Jerry's
Art Supply Store in Raleigh is having a big sale accessible at
JerrysArtaRama. Click on Double Deals for a buy 1, get 1 free special. TW
Signs and Graphics, 270 Hickory Street, Mount Airy, which is owned by Kim and
Theresa, now prints artwork onto banners, flags, wall paper, murals, and
frameable canvas. Mount
Airy has a new art supply store called It's About Art! owned by Sara Ann
Butner, located at 194 N. Main Street, phone 336-671-6046, email sbutner@littlestarllc.com. Ed Camin moved and Gail Spane seconded that
we reserve space now at the Gallery Group for next year's spring show.
Motion passed. Jan will make the reservation. Meeting was adjourned.
Tasty refreshments were served by Celeste and Judy. Gail Spane will
bring refreshments and Cassie Snow will bring drinks to our March 2 meeting
to be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Weekend Gallery. Respectfully submitted,
