ZODIAC POSTER

The work represents whimsical figures of the signs of the Zodiac. The photograpic images are originally made in fine wool felt, yarn, airbrush, cardboard and pastel. Size of the Zodiac poster: 26"X38".

Motivation: I like to work on figures that are part of a series. What attracted me to this theme was the vision of the ancient people who, looking at the beautiful stars illumnating the dark sky, gave names to many of these celestial bodies and constellations - the same names which we are still using today. This poster is dedicated to the people of these ancient civilizations.

Instead of concentrating on the mystical atmosphere that surrounds anything astrological, I tried to focus on images that are so cheerful, colorful and entertaining, that can be used in children's rooms.

The individual squares with the figures are arranged in three vertical and four horizontal rows. Each horizontal row represents the signs of fire, earth, air and water.

Printing: Instead of three, the poster is printed in six colors lithogaphy. In addition to the three basic colors: there are two blacks: a mat one and one with a luster. Then, there are two additional colors to accentuate the hot pink and the yellow green. The figures have gloss finish, while the background is mat.

It reads below the figures with black luster letters on the black mat background: "Cloth Sculpture Zodiac by Maya Barov".

Other uses: In addition to the poster, these figures could be cut and used to make surprisingly luxurious birthday cards.
