snake

Welcome To Page 4, Larry's carvings

June 1, 2006 --Well, as Ev said, the snake is my masterpiece, here he is on the right, click on the reduced size photo and see him in all his glory. I have only done a few other big pieces so I will put them all on the right and save the left side for my butterflies and Jeeves.

I make the butterflies during the winter months when it usually too cold to work out in the garage. I'm old and slow, it takes me all winter to make a batch of 10 to 12 butterflies. They are designed to be worn as a decorative pin on an article of clothing.

Heron

We are fortunate to live in a condo that faces the shore of Lake Overholser. Herons are frequent visitors to the lake, usually they are migratory but we have a grey one that stays all year. We spend a lot of time bird-watching. I carved two herons, one is displayed on the right. We also get flocks of pelicans, usually once a year. I would like to carve one but do not know if I am up to it.

I also carved the fish, but must confess, Ev helped me out on that. I carved a number of “Jeeves the butler” in various sizes and colors, again Ev did most of the painting. Jeeves is a snooty English buttler, he is carrying a shellaced hard-wood serving tray designed to hold business cards or small pieces of jewelry.

That is it for my wood carvings. If you are feeling brave, you can visit one of my other web sites below.
