Welcome To Page 1 of Ev's carvings
Carving is a great way to unleash your creative urges. Master the basics, and then go on to create your own patterns and designs. It can be a very rewarding hobby, beside the basic carving skills, you can go on to develope expertise in wood burning and finishing. I enjoy painting my finished work almost as much as the actual woodcarving. I sometimes get carried away as you can see by checking out the coyote image on page 2.:-)

I joined the Oklahoma City Wood Carvers Club when we moved here and met some very talented carvers. The club puts on a show once a year which we like to attend. We did drop out of the club after a few years, the club meetings were long and drawn out; very boring. I had to keep waking Larry up when the good parts like show and tell came up. Sadly, the good parts were few and far between.
I organized the Yukon Wood Carvers Club in 2004, and taught a wood carving class at the Yukon Senior Center.
All went well in the beginning; when we were carving simple projects like Christmas ornaments. The Buffalo, pictured on the left, was a little more advanced and most of the students didn't want to make the effort required and I didn't intend to teach Christmas ornaments forever.
Wood Carving is not for sissies! If you can't stand the sight of blood; especially your own, find another hobby!
