Welcome To Ev's Home Page

July 29, 2008--Well I've finally gotten around to updating my web site. It's been a little over two years since the last update and I've got lots of new carvings to display. My name is Evelyn Biggio and I've been carving about 17 years. I think I'm beginning to get the hang of it. My husband, Larry, helps with cutting out the patterns and sometimes does some carving also, mostly he sticks to doing the web design. We're displaying reduced size images of my wood carvings on these pages. Some images are clickable links to a larger photos and more information about the carving.

I am not selling anything on this web site!

I started carving after I retired from my job at the V.A. hospital in La Jolla, California. I had lived all my life in California, had never been anywhere else except for a few short vacations. We moved to Roswell NM after retiring, lived there about 3 years. It was fun for a while, but we soon ran out of things to do or see. It's sort of a boring place, even for a couple of geezers. They did have a good library system and a first class adult center. The adult center is where I met Gil Nelson and signed up for his wood carving class. He was a wonderful teacher and I enjoyed his class.

Larry and I are okies now. We arrived in Oklahoma City Just 4 months before Tim Mcvey did his dirty deed. We were living about 4 miles from the scene, the explosion shook our house violently and the noise was deafening. We like Oklahoma City, it's big enough to be a fun town and yet does not have most of the nastiness of the larger cities. The best thing about Oklahoma City are it's people, they are very friendly and kind, albeit supersized. We've been voted one of the most obese cities in the Nation. Naturally, Larry and I are trying our best to fit right in. ---Burp!

We moved from OKC to a condo in Yukon, OK, we lived there for about 12 years. I founded the Yukon wood carvers club and taught wood carving at the Yukon senior center for two Years. Old age has slowed me down, I mostly work alone now, sometimes Larry and I collaborate on a project, the tree topper pictured on the far left is an example, Larry did the lathe work and I did the carving and painting.

Larry has a link to the "Yukon Wood Carvers" and more; at the bottom of his page.

Oh! I almost forgot the best news! I am now in Paradise!

PARADISE SQUARE, that is, a nice retirement community in Mustang, Oklahoma. Larry and I moved here about three months ago, it's been very pleasant for the most part; the only thing we miss about the condo in Yukon is the view of the lake from our balcony.

That's all for this page, please use the top or bottom menu bar to see more of Larry and my work.
