The Opera house was quickly rebuilt and by 1900 was called the Temple Theatre. It was owned and conducted by Carthage Lodge 365 I.O.O.F. It was billed as a "Model $40,000 Theatre with seating capacity of 700. Open every afternoon and evening for the entertainment of the public. Adults, 10 cents - Children, 5 cents. Every program Clean, Clear, Instructive, Educational, Refined, Moral"

The Opera house served the community long and well. As with many old buildings, it went through many life changes with succeeding generations of Carthaginians. It served as a Teen Center in the 50's, as a movie theater, and as a sign company's primary workshop (to name a few) until it's demolition in 1998 when it was deemed unsafe. Its site is now parking space and a grassy hill with several benches.
