This building, now owned by the United Community Church , was built by the Presbyterians after their manse on Mechanic Street and their church on this site were destroyed. Originally, this was the site of the frame church that preceded the present brick building. After the pastor, J. V. Shurts, raised the funds to rebuild, the congregation gave him a free hand in designing the church and manse.
