Bridges: the link.

The view from the west side; firemen from Carthage hauled their equipment (some was horse drawn), to fight the fires in the mills and factories on the bank just to the left of the edge of the picture.

Unfortunately, they soon were forced to leave, recrossing the bridge to fight the fire that had hop-scotched the river and come ashore. The fire was to eventually blacken over 70 acres of the business and residential areas.
