Patrick Stewart house: built in about 1820, this was the home that the Brownell family moved to when they first came to Carthage in the late 1870's. Chuckie mentions watching boats come into the landing at the foot of Canal Street from this house. It is presently the home of Chris Bears, a retired teacher in the Carthage Central District. It located on West Street, a few doors up from the former LeRay land office where the senior Brownell worked as a surveyor.
