Poetry of Betrayal

Whether it is the loss of a love, or the hapless intrusion of humankind's
technology, or the judgment and criticism we humans extend so self-righteously
towards each other, or what have you, betrayal is one of the poetic themes I have
written perhaps too much about.

     Knick-Knacks

Largely due to my betrayal of our relationship with anger,
violence and inattentiveness, my basherta, Sara, several years
ago had a secretive affair with a co-worker which when I
discovered it led to a period of dark writing about her
"betrayal" of me. This is one of the poems from this harsh
period of my life in which I again experienced the truth of one
of my favorite sayings from one of my favorite guru-mentors,
John C. Lilly, who said, "Cosmic Love is highly indifferent
and absolutely ruthless: It teaches Its lessons whether we
          like/dislike them or not."

     moontalk 1969

This poem, written shortly after, the 1969 moon landing
poetically depicts my sense of betrayal by the technological
hubris of us sometimes silly humanikins.

commentaries, week of March 31, 1997

In the aftermath of the Heaven's Gate Cult mass suicide I was
appalled at the rude treatment of former cult members by
members of the media which is depicted in this caustic poem.

     Some Looks

While in Vietnam I participated in a betrayal to a Vietnamese
elder and his young grand-daughter as described in this poem.
