It's been an unusual few weeks around here, with a few unexpected events thrown into my usual mix
of knitting, reading and puttering.
One of my dearest friends (and my favorite Demon Knitting Enabler) rather unexpectedly lost his appendix
just after Thanksgiving, giving a bit of worry for a few days. Fortunately, he had no major complications, and is recovering
nicely. Another item for the "things I'm thankful for" list for this year.
Knitting has been rather sock-focused for some reason, with the turquoise STR socks done, and two additional
pair cast on. One is a blue and green self-striping Berroco Sox, which is becoming a Basic Boring Stockinette.
The other is in Trekking XXL, a white background with little color speckles (makes me think of confetti), which is being
done in the "Crosshatch Lace" pattern from More Sensational Knitted Socks. Both of them are midway through
the second sock thus far.
Lace knitting isn't getting done much, so both "Sausage Innabun" and "Li'l Bunny Foo-Foo" are
resting in the knitting bag right now. They'll get picked up soon, I suspect, as I'm trying to clear some needles to
get ready for the Mmario Mmystery that'll start up in January. There's a hank of BMFA "Laci" in the color "Ghillie
Dhu" that's nagging me to wind it into a ball so it'll be ready to be cast on.
Aside from that, I've been laying in supplies and getting ready to batten down the hatches and repel
boarders over the holidays, as usual. The Swiss Colony order has arrived, with lots of yummy cheeses and mini-cheesecakes
stacked in the fridge. The supply of hot chocolate mix has also been replenished, and all that remains is to decide
whether to purchase another mince pie at the grocery store next week.
Let's hope everyone has a relaxing and safe holiday season.
