Overview
Auto specialist Andi Tosca, Auto, an automaton that thinks he's her dead
fiancé, and Tom Joad, the cute guy in the Airstream across the road, get
in and out of all kinds of jams-government conspiracies, alien abduction
and an invasion of holistic practitioners, to name a few. For Andi and her
neighbors, the courtyard of The Court of King Henry Trailer Court is
ground zero for trouble.
Main Characters
Andi Tosca, auto mechanic, pool shark and alien abductee, might look tough
in her grease stained coveralls and trucker cap, but underneath her rough
exterior is a voluptuous, tender body. And if you take a look beneath her
delicate, sensual, hungry flesh, just to the right of center, guarded by
her perfect breasts is a heart of pure gold. When Andi was 16, both of her
parents mysteriously disappeared from the Deal-Mart. And a few years ago,
Andi's fighter pilot fiancé died in a freak, classified accident.
Mechanically inclined and in love with fast cars, Andi's fix it up favors
for friends turned in to her own business, Andi's Autos and Used Vehicles.
Andi lives in doublewide luxury in The Court of King Henry Trailer Court.
She doesn't really date anymore because she's dated all the living, single
men within a hundred miles of Dry Lake-all six of them. All but the new
guy who just moved in across the road.
Tom Joad is a man with a secret (only no one's supposed to know that just
yet). A few months back, Tom landed a good, regular job as livestock
inspector for the USDA, Dry Lake County, NM, Division. And landing the
manager job at King Henry's Court was almost too damn good to be true. If
you scratch the surface of Tom's rugged good looks, you'll probably get a
black eye. Be sneaky about it, you'll find the heart and soul of a sent-up
Eagle Scout. Tom hasn't been in Dry Lake long enough to meet any women.
Other than the girl in the doublewide across the road who would sure be
pretty if she wasn't such a mess.
Automaton (Auto), who talks like a local, will not reveal anything about
his origins, maker or mission. What we know, we know from recent
observation. First and most important, Auto's damn big and none too
graceful, a not-so-minor problem--even in a doublewide. Second, he's good
at fixing cars and blowing things up. These are useful skills by
themselves, but his knack for blowing up cars causes Andi no end of grief.
The fact that his body is 100% Made in the USA hardware-old Chevy, Ford,
Chrysler, Smith & Wesson and Remington parts held together by Duct
Tape--should be a testament to good ol' Yankee ingenuity. Unfortunately,
his mix-'n-match mechanics are in constant need of repair. Auto likes WWF,
pickup trucks and R&B. Oh, and fighter jets.
Minor Characters
The residents of King Henry's Trailer Court:
Isabella, the gypsy
Widow Bessie Garcia
Ferguson and Ornella Cooper, a retired couple
Willy & Mr. Smith, "bachelors"
Wild Bill's regulars:
Simple
Bob, who's simple.
Freddy Hubbard owns the gas pump over at the Quick Stop and "King
Henry's Court". Freddy's almost as wide as he is tall.
Young Tucker Davis and his child bride/second cousin, Dixie. Tucker, a
short wave radio enthusiast, owns Dry Lake's only satellite dish
franchise. Dixie bakes a hell of a brownie!
Horace Halfacre, an amateur astronomer and herpetologist, sells snake
venom to the local hospital.
Chief Joseph, a distant cousin of the famous Warrior Chief, is the wisest,
smartest fellow in Dry Lake. He owns the Desert Inn, Dry Lake's only hotel
and casino (that is, if you can call a ten room motel and a Black Jack
table a hotel and casino).
General Moon heads up Dry Lake Air Force Base. His good ol' boy act hides
a black heart.
Corporal Kilgore, the General's weasel.
Pilot
Episode
A large, titanium bodied robot, armed to its Kevlar teeth, shakes a bag of
packing peanuts into a wooden crate. The robot then removes its own head.
The body switches the head off, and fixes a post it note next to the
switch before placing the head in the crate. After covering the head in
more foam peanuts, the body nails a top on the crate. Satisfied with its
work, the body places the crate with others nearby ready for delivery.
The body heads out of the back of the loading dock and off into the
desert. As it disappears over the horizon, we see an enormous explosion.
One fine
summer morning, late as usual, Andi storms out the front door of her
doublewide to race off to work. Lo and behold, right there on her
Astroturf lanai, tucked up next to a small block Chevy engine and just on
the other side of a pile of rebar, is a wooden crate with the words
"Lucky Winner!" stenciled on it and a typed note that reads,
"Needs a good home."
Lucky Winner? Needs a good home? Who could resist? Andi gets a crow bar,
pops the top off, and there in the box, suspended in Styrofoam, is a
head-a metal head, the head of a robot.
Well damn it all! The boys down at Wild Bill's Bible Book Store, Pool Hall
and Gun Emporium will sure get a kick out of this! Andi loads the create
in the bed of her '68 Ford pick up and peels out down the gravel drive and
right out the front gate of "The Court of King Henry" trailer
court.
At "Andi's Auto Repair and Used Vehicles," Andi pulls the
mechanical head from its box and sits it on her workbench. Right there on
the back of his head is a post it note that reads, "Turn me on."
Andi flips the switch.
The head's eyes light up. They look around. They fix on Andi's eyes.
"Hello, darlin'."
Things around the small town of Dry Lake New Mexico would never again be
the same.
Andi closes shop for the day.
Locked up in Andi's Auto Repair, the head tells Andi how to build
rudimentary arms for it. Once the arms are built, the head takes over and
rebuilds its own body out of used car and gun parts, a huge, metal monster
of a robot body, complete with all kinds of dangerous looking add-ons.
At the end of the day, Andi decides to head home, with Auto in tow. As
they head out the door, Andi tells Auto to "kill the light."
Never has a light been so thoroughly killed as that light on that
night.
Storylines
Episode Two:
Andi and Auto, as she named him, quickly develop a special bond. After
only a few days, he is not only useful around the garage, he's damn fun to
talk to and likes to watch WWF. Andi brings him home. She has to cut the
door a bit wider to fit him in, but once inside, well, there's more room
in a doublewide than most people think.
That night, down at Wild Bill's, Andi introduces Auto to the boys-Simple
Bob, Freddy Hubbard, Tucker Davis and his young bride, Dixie, cranky ol'
Horace Halfacre and Chief Joseph, a distant cousin of the famous Warrior
Chief.
Turns out, bringing Auto to Wild Bill's and tryin' to teach him to shoot
pool wasn't such a good idea after all. And it was God's will alone that
prevented a great dartboard dart massacre. Folks sure had fun, though.
Back at King Henry's Court, Andi introduces Auto to Tom, who's out in
front of his Airstream putting a rebuilt transmission in his jeep. Tom's
real impressed with Auto. He can't move so well, but he seems genuine and
friendly.
As Andi & Auto head for the doublewide, Tom crawls back under his
jeep. Next thing you know, the jeep slips off of the jack and traps Tom.
Auto comes to the rescue. He picks up the jeep, tosses it high into the
air and blows it out of the sky. The blast shakes the trailers and brings
out every resident of King Henry's Court--Widow Bessie, all fourteen
members of the Kearny family, Isabella the Gypsy-everybody.
Episode Three
When General Moon and his henchmen show up to kidnap Auto, Andi circles
the trailers and the residents of King Henry's Court go on the defensive.
Tom and Andi take comfort in each other's arms. Auto gets so upset he out
maneuvers the military and sends them running. As it turns out, Auto
possesses the brain of Andi's fiancé, Enos "Eveready" McDoogle.
