I enjoy meeting the creative challanges in the design and construction of reference audio control rooms and recording studios.

I am highly skilled and intuitive designer and builder.

I have the tools for accurately acquiring existing conditions, planning, laying out and constructing
complex geometric shapes.

I have a good working knowledge on the fundamentals of acoustics and sound control and an eye for finding
and a mind for solving problems.

In the Old Greek Church on Arlington Street

In the summer of 2003, Michael Blackmer and I collaborated on the redesign and reconstruction of
Boston Skyline Studio's "A" control room

Recently I was informed that Boston Skyline has gone out of business.

New England Institute of Arts and Communications

In the fall of 2003 I collaborated with Michael Blackmer in the redesign and construction of The New England Institute of Art & Communications "A" control room.

This shot is of the "A" room right front corner showing the main control monitors and surrounding geometric features.
The cieling "coffer" functions as clearance for the fire suppression system.

"fabrication"

corners interlocked - no fastenings

The 1" thick - 6 lb. density fabric covered fiberglass panels that form the "front end" and "coffer" are assembled very much like an old stone arch. There are NO FASTENERS used. All the "valley joints" were cut to interlock and are held in place by COMPRESSION. The only retention is the black poplar trim at the perrimeters.

fabricated and finished in Lorenzo's basement

The diffusor surface is a section of a 10' radius.
It is about 3' tall and 4' wide.
It's face is 1/4" cherry matchbook plywood.
There are 3 ribs and two endcaps which are 3/4' MDF
The sides are 2 1/2' X 3/4" poplar.
The diffusors cavity is well damped with fiberglass.

The rear fire suppression "coffer" is 3/4" selected birch plywood cut to "matchbook" the endgrain.
