Secure Green Future LANDSLIDE VICTORY
ELEVEN DISTRICTS ! ! ! and NOW THE REAL WORK BEGINS . . .

http://securegreenfuture.org/

Landslide victories for the Secure Green Future ballot initiative!!

Thanks to an incredible grassroots effort, the Secure Green Future ballot question has won in EVERY SINGLE DISTRICT it appeared, and by a total landslide margin! At least 153,252 voters said YES to a Secure Green Future on November 4th, netting the ballot question an astounding 81.44% of the vote!!!

Thanks to all of you who helped get these questions on the ballot and helped to spread the word to voters. Your efforts have paid off big time, and we now have clear evidence that the people of Massachusetts are READY for decisive action to fight climate change and energy uncertainty by transitioning to a secure, green economy NOW.

Here's how the question did in the 11 House districts where it appeared (preliminary results):

State House District No Yes FRACTION YES
(OF VOTES CAST) RATIO: YES/NO
8th Bristol 3,559 9,216 0.721 2.59

The ball is rolling
I finally had a meeting with Paul Eldrenkamp of Byggmeister, a green / sustainable contractor. The conversation went well. We talked about what we may do to accomplish a high performance retrofit on the Hudson house and the need for an addition on the north end to provide a additional workspace
(woodworking) as my Dad left me with a basement full of machine tools which I will continue to appreciate.
Part of the retrofit will be increasing the insulation value of the walls ( foundation and box ) and roof to a minimum of R-40 and R-60.
This will be accomplished by adding 10" of cellulose to the EXTERIOR of the box walls and possibly 26" to the roof.
The house will be completely air sealed and will incorporate an active "energy recovery" ventilation system.
I'll be adding photos to a new page here which will be titled #9 - - - - -

CODE GREEN! Hit the streets now for the Secure Green Future ballot question!
Dear Friend,

With unprecedented rains washing away crops in the American bread basket, and a new surge of forest fires in California, it's clearer than ever that the time for a Secure Green Future is NOW!.

Indeed, global warming is advancing much faster than scientists have predicted. The Greenland ice cap is exhibiting unexpected signs of breaking up, which could create flooding that would be worse than 23 Hurricane Katrinas. British scientists just reported that massive cracks have appeared in the Artic ice cap. An article in Science presents evidence that we have passed critical tipping points, and we need to reverse carbon dioxide build-up, not just slow it down. On top of all this, the global economy is beginning to unravel as dwindling oil reserves drive up fuel costs for an oil-addicted world.

To address these emerging crises with the level of urgency they demand, the Mass. Coalition for Healthy Communities, through our Code Green project, is helping to launch a public policy question called the Secure Green Future (SGF). This advisory question calls for legislation to cut greenhouse gas emissions in Massachusetts 80% by 2020, and to shift tax incentives and subsidies at the state level from energy-intensive development projects towards building the local, green economies we urgently need.

[Note: The Committee for a Secure Green Future is a nonpartisan ballot committee formed to promote the Secure Green Future question. The SGF question was developed by the Green-Rainbow Party's Advisory Ballot Working Group. Early organizing support is being provided by the Massachusetts Coalition for Healthy Communities.]

Winter's nearly here
It's been a while - - - My pop passed away August 20 - - - I'm just starting to feel grounded and focused.
I've been transitioning into the idea and reality of being in "his" house, which is deeded to my sister and me.
The machine shop he had promised me for years " over my dead body " he would say is now my responsibility and my prize.
The design and production skills he taught me are being utilized, and I hope to continue learning and working as long as I'm able.
Tomorrow is the beginning of a few days living and working at 9 Lake Boone Drive in Hudson Massachusetts.
I'm thinking seriously of inhabiting and working at #9 this winter.
I've told my sister I'm interested in purchasing her share.
WISH ME LUCK AND SKILL - - -

SPRING 2006
Please visit the Moon Island page for a view. I'm looking forward to working more and more toward creating and becoming a member of the sustainable community.

Psycho-Acoustics is rarin' to work with more artists. The drum sound we're getting is pretty good. Logic PRO 7 and Pro Tools 7 M-Powered are the bigest guns we have, and of course - Garage Band - my buddy - caus its soooo easy.

new toy - M-audio Project Mix I/O and the Alesis ADAT AI3

I'm still self employed doing contract work, repair, renovation, cabinets, kitchens etc. - looking for more challanging projects - especially in the area of sound rooms.

TechnoFrolics is also one of my preferred clients. David Durlach has been very generous and continues to provide me with challanging projects. Hopefully I'll have more pics to show in the near future.

Still learning - VectorWorks version 12 - Tiger installed
