Kit #62 - LCI(G) / LCS(L) CENTRAL PACIFIC
LCI(G) / LCS(L) CENTRAL PACIFIC
The LCI(G)’s were the outgrowth of a need for support craft for beach invasions. Off shore ships
couldn’t supply enough support and the solution was to arm landing craft to provide close-in fire support.
These support craft LCS(L) were highly successful and after the war Japan received 53 and many allied nations
used them as gunboats. The LCS(L)’s were redesignated as LSSL’s in 1949. The kit is based on drawings of these
craft, with many details taken from photographs. The kit is cast in a soft styrene-like gray resin. There are
two craft in each kit. The LCI(G) / LCS(L) CENTRAL PACIFIC kit consists of a resin hull and parts & instructions. The kit is cast in a soft styrene-like gray. One piece molds were used to make the castings. The kit assembles like an injection molded kit.
