Kit #23: METAWEE TYPE AOG 1944

The Mettawee class gasoline tanker was the smallest AOG at 221 feet but was the largest class of this important type of vessel.

These little ships virtually covered the Pacific allowing the Army and Navy to operate in every front from the South Pacific to Alaska. They also served in the Atlantic and after the war they were transfered to the merchant fleet.

The kit is small but very complete and the prominent brass catwalk gives the kit that finishing touch. There is a large brass sheet with several details that enhance the colorful little tanker.

The kit is molded in light gray resin.

This kit was constructed and painted by Bill Smallshaw

The METAWEE TYPE AOG 1944 kit consists of a resin hull and parts, an etched brass fret & instructions. The kit is cast in a soft styrene-like gray. A one piece mold was used to make the castings, so there is a slight overpour to sand away. The kit assembles like an injection molded kit.
