Claudia Pearson, retired lawyer, grandmother, and student of children's literature

After more than twenty years of successful trial practice, Claudia Pearson realized that what she really enjoyed about the practice of law was telling her client's personal stories to a jury. An avid reader, and a collector of children's books, she retired and returned to school at Hollins University where she obtained her master's degree in Children's Literature. She is also an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators in the Southern Breeze Region.

What a job!

As editor, I hope to assist authors seeking to enrich their texts. Words are our tools, and choosing the right words is not only a challenge, but a delight.

For Writers

Good books about writing:

Elements of Fiction Writing: Characters and Viewpoint, Orson Scott Card.

Self editing for Fiction Writers, Rene Browne and David King.

The Fiction Editor, The Novel, And the Novelist, Thomas McCormack.

The Grammar of Fantasy, Gianni Rodari (trans. Jack Zipes)

Picture Books

We hope at some point to begin publishing picture books, but until then, if you have submitted manuscripts to one of the major publishers without success, I can highly recommend the services of Simone Kaplan, children's book editor.
