As with all my mares, I bought
Raven without personally inspecting her. What I had purchased was a diamond in the rough from Cheryl Thompson
of Pennsylvania, from 5 snapshots that were not that clear.
When Raven stepped off the trailer I couldn't believe my eyes...she is a sabino
black roan, and I had thought I was buying a black mare.
This find has made me very happy. I understand the Morgan
breed produces some unusual colorings that appear from time to time in certain lines. The odds of producing these remarkable
colors are rare.
Raven was also bred to Gold Cross Patches (Whippoorwill Arges X Sontree Knox
Pixie)
Well the little extra package arrived on June 2, 2001. SOF Red Obsidian (Sid),
a chestnut colt with sabino roaning, and flaxen mane and tail (more about
Sid on his page).
While my collection of mares may not be complete, I have been able to collect
2 Whippoorwill Juliet daughters and a granddaughter of hers. I am always searching for additional outstanding mares.
