"EXTRA CREDIT"
There are some selected astronomical events that you may have the opportunity to observe, photograph** or complete drawings of your 
observations and prepare a short write-up/description of your observations.

These types of approved "Extra Credit" activities will be scored on the basis of 5 points each with a maximum of 
TEN points/semester.

Approved events that will get you 5 points (maximum) "extra credit" points each include: Observing Meteor Showers, counting incoming meteors, producing drawings and providing a short write-up* Observing comets at the observatory, producing drawings & completing the observing sheet* Observing eclipses, photographing** or drawing the event and recording times of observations* Photographing** the circumpolar stars & constellations in the northern hemisphere.* Observing additonal telescopic objects (e.g. two binary systems, two globular clusters, etc.) will be given one extra credit point each if the observing sheet is properly filled out.* Every third friday of the month, there is a public star night at the Little Thompson Observatory in Berthoud. - Attend the lecture and write up a brief report indicating what you learned.* Complete one of two possible semester long Solar Observations Projects (ASOP or SLOP) Take a trip to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science & see the exhibits,* and see planetarium shows at the museum's Gates Planetarium.* -  Bring in your ticket stubs from the planetarium shows for your "extra credit". - Each planetarium ticket stub will be counted as 5 XC points. (Maximum TEN XC points/semester) * during the semester in which you are enrolled in class. ** more points awarded for photographs than drawings.
