You need several things here, a lot of time, good set of plans, a material that you're comfortable with and financial
support.
Selecting a sailboat for a project of this magnitude is a daunting task. Many items come into play and must be considered.
What sort of a history does the design have, is it easy to single hand, will it hove too in a storm, does it have good interior
storage, etc. there are just so many considerations, but after a year of searching the decision has been made.
I thought of building another sailboat and even bought the plans, then...one night while crusing Ebay, I found what I had
been looking for. An Ingrid 38, was just what I needed. Designed by Sir Colin Archer as a Northsea Rescue Ship
in the late 1800's, even lifeboats on todays modern luxury liners are of the same sea kindly double ended design.
The price was right, and the deal is done.
