What's New This Spring . . .
Wow! This is a busy Spring Semester for me! I am taking classes in Exhibition Design, Volunteer Management, and Art Education,
working with multiple exhibitions around the city, and helping out at Gateway High School, Central YMCA, and the Crucible
in my spare time. Good luck catching up with me!

Agatha Christie's Egypt Extended
Our Fall exhibit has been extended due to popular demand. Agatha Christie's Egypt: Life Along the Nile in the 1930s will continue
running from February 9 through March 6. The exhibit features the Sutro Collection's real mummies. Field trip classes learn
about the process of mummification as they pull the guts out of our interactive "dummy mummy" and place them in
simulated canopic jars. Cool!
Caravan Across Persia Exhibit
The new Spring exhibit opens April 1 and runs through May 8. 'Caravan Across Persia: an Arcaeological Tour of Iran' features
pieces from the California Academy of Sciences. The hands-on activity for field trips is a Silk Road Trading Game where students
pretend to be traveling merchants. Our opening reception will be Wednesday April 8 from 5-7pm.

SFSU Fine Arts Gallery
The Fine Arts Gallery at San Francisco State University is open
Tuesdays: Noon-4 pm
Wednesdays: Noon-6 pm;
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays: Noon-4 pm.
Admission is FREE.
Stillwell Exhibition and MFA Show
This joint show includes works by Leo Stillwell, student winners of the Stillwell juried art competition, and works from the
Masters of Fine Arts students. The show runs February 23 through March 13 with an opening reception on Thursday March 24 from
4-6pm.
Senior Open House and MFA Thesis Exhibition
Yet another joint show - this time featuring art by graduating seniors and Thesis works by Masters of Fine Arts students.
We kick off the show with an opening reception April 18 from 1-3pm. Additionally, MFA candidate artists from the show will
give talks during the Lunchtime Lecture Series, held on Thursdays in the gallery. The show run until May 15.

Historian Peter Field talks about the history of the Tenderloin district, and what motivated the YMCA to come to San Francisco
as early as 1853. Talks are accompanied by a historical photo exhibition from the Central YMCA's archives.
Earth Day Celebration

A rooftop garden event accompanied by an exhibition of photographs from past YMCA community gardening projects.
Atrium Gallery
The San Francisco Central YMCA is planning to open a gallery this summer. We are still in the early stages of planning, but
