NOTE: Orchestras do not meet after school on
days when there is no Extended Day. This does not affect class meetings
during school days.
Only students who have returned signed permission slips
may remain after school for orchestra rehearsals, and only those
who
attend rehearsals may perform in concerts. Any student receiving a blank
permission slip is expected to return it
completed,
in a timely manner.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO:
1. Every class meeting and every after-school rehearsal is a graded
activity.
2. Any
absence from an after-school rehearsal must be either preceded or immediately
followed by a note from a parent.
Excused and unexcused absences from rehearsals are defined in the same way as
excused and unexcused absences
from school. An unexcused absence from a rehearsal will result in a major grade
cut.** << Click on
asterisks for details.
3. Each
student is responsible for having his/her instrument, folder, and required
folder contents at every class meeting and
every after-school rehearsal. Substantial deductions of points will result from
not having all necessary and required
equipment and materials.** Students
who leave instruments, folders, papers, etc. in
their regular classrooms will not
be allowed to go back and get them. IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY
OF EITHER THE CLASSROOM TEACHER
OR THE STRING INSTRUMENT TEACHER TO REMIND STUDENTS TO COME TO SCHOOL (AND TO THE
ORCHESTRA ROOM) PREPARED. Parents are encouraged to help their learners
devise plans for remembering class
and rehearsal days and bringing what they need to school, but the final
responsibility lies with the learner in every case.
